Did you know, since 2018 Clarity Essential Wellness have been offering detoxifying colonic irrigations?
We are one of only a handful of wellness centres to offer this amazing treatment in Gippsland. Which is probably why we have been so booked up.
We’ve had customers travel all the way from Traralgon and Bairnsdale for a colonic. Heck, even TRFM’s Gabi signed up for one!
Despite, Gippslanders loving our new offering, we have noticed there are a lot of questions around exactly what colonic hydrotherapy is. For some it’s a rather uncomfortable topic, in more ways than one.
Therefore we thought we’d put a blog post together to enlighten you on a treatment that many cultures from around the world have partaken in for thousands of years.
So let’s get stuck in!
Who should get a colonic?
Colonic cleansing is not everyone’s cup of tea. However the health benefits of a colon cleanse is what attracts many people to this form of detoxification.
The reasons for getting a colonic, differ from person to person. Some people simply do it for that lightness and comfort you feel in your abdominal region after a treatment. While others do it for more specific reasons like:
If you’re trying to conceive
Sometimes a roadblock to becoming pregnant can be a cause of too much fat being present in the body. At approximately 6-feet long, your colon can build up waste for a number of years, which for women can then press on their uterus and reproductive organs, making it harder to conceive. Maintaining a healthy weight when trying to conceive is important and factors like colon cleansing, a healthy diet and exercise can help you achieve this.
So if you’re looking to fall pregnant sooner rather than later, perhaps a colonic treatment is worth considering.
If you have IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome)
IBS is becoming more and more prevalent in Australia with many people being diagnosed every year. The good news is that a colonic can help to relieve the symptoms of IBS quickly and easily.
Why should you get a colonic?
Simply put, colonic irrigation helps your gut health.
When waste material has accumulated over a long period of time in your colon, it breaks down and becomes toxic. The body responds by slowing down other functions. This causes constipation and sluggish bowel movement, which will affect all other systems of the body.
Some of our favourite colonic health benefits include:
A lower risk of developing bowel cancer
A lower risk of experiencing discomfort from IBS symptoms or chronic constipation or diarrhea
Being less gassy
Feeling lighter and more comfortable around the abdomen
A lower risk of hemorrhoids
Better absorption of water and nutrients into your body
What happens during a colonic?
Firstly, colon hydrotherapy is completely safe as long as it’s IF administered by a qualified professional, using approved equipment for people without any contraindications (a medical issue that means the therapy is not suitable). Jacinta Chaffey, owner and operator of Clarity Essential Wellness is highly trained and only uses the best, quality colonic equipment.
After chatting with Jacinta, to make sure colonic hydrotherapy is right for you, you’ll be given some specific instructions on what you need to do to prepare for your appointment. It’s especially important to drink plenty of water to stay well hydrated, before and after a colonic.
On the day of your appointment, you’ll be welcomed into Clarity’s colonic room (see below for pictures of our beautiful space). Where you’ll expect the following:
You’ll lie on a comfortable custom-built colonic treatment bed
A small tube will be gently inserted into your rectum to allow filtered warm water to pass through your colon
The equipment we use is a multi-stage water purification system which is completely closed. This means your waste material will be discreetly carried from your colon through a drainage line without any odour.
While this is happening we may use light abdominal massage techniques to help dislodge stubborn toxic matter from the walls of your colon. We will also closely monitor the pressure and temperature of the water as this varies on an individual basis.
The length of time a colonic cleanse takes is typically between 30 - 45 minutes.
After your colonic treatment, we recommend to drink lots of water and to stay hydrated. Afterwards you can go back to work and your daily routine.
Where can I get my colonic done?
